The Dahon Boardwalk folding bike looks awesome straight out of the box, it has a particularly well refined but classic look about it.

This bike is truly timelessly styled and we believe will never look out of place or outdated on the road. As it stands, the Dahon Boardwalk S1 is one of the most popular folding bike models currently available – for good reason too!

Not only is the bike exceptionally attractive to look at, it rides like a true beauty too.

OUR VERDICT

“One of Dahon’s cheaper folding bikes, the Dahon S1 is still capable of competing with their more premium models. A perfect entry level bicycle for those that have never tried one before!”

Dahon Boardwalk Folding Bike Review

”Dahon have done a truly fantastic job in producing this wonderfully exquisite folding bike, it excels in almost every possible region.”

Available for a very minimal price, this is one of Dahon’s cheaper folding bicycle models. However, this does not mean that it is poorly made, or that it performs any less than the more expensive models.

Firstly, the Boardwalk is capable of being folded away in less than 15 seconds, this is far quicker than your average bike. Not only that, it also takes up very little room when folded down too. What’s more? Yes, the bike is also fairly light too.

Weighing in at just over 27lbs (12.4kg), it is by no means the lightest folding bike available, but it is easily manageable and can be carried anywhere without too much difficulty.

For these reasons alone we believe that the Dahon Boardwalk S1 is one of the best models for people who have not yet ventured into the realm of the folding bike!

The Boardwalk only has a single speed and so it functions as any other bike would on the road, but will struggle up steep hills.

If you plan on riding your bike throughout an urban city then you shouldn’t have too many issues with it.

It truly is the definition of a city dwelling bike, perfect for commuting or utilising to quickly get around the city. If, however, you are planning on going on the bike over steep hills or off road, you might be better off spending a little extra for a bike with more gear speeds.

Test Ride

The Dahon Boardwalk is an excellent ride, its steel frame is very sturdy and ultimately will be very durable too.

You can feel hardly any vibrations when on the bike and it handles beautifully, even when on less stable terrain.

As with all of Dahon’s bikes you can really tell that the Boardwalk has been made with perfection in mind, even though the bike costs less than most other models.

Concluding Remarks

Dahon prove time and time again why they are among the premier folding bicycle manufacturers around. The Boardwalk S1 is another exceptional addition to their already incredibly impressive arsenal of folding bikes. It is one of their cheaper bikes but this doesn’t infer that it is any less impressive. Capable of rapidly traversing throughout any city, this bike is perfect for somebody who has never owned a folding bike before.
