The Stowabike Folding City Compact Bike is an entry level folding bike that offers little more than the basics. If you are looking for something that will function at a relatively basic level and ultimately get you safely from A to B, then this bike could be for you.
[pullquote align=”full” cite=”Does exactly what it says on the tin, but little more. A good entry level bike that should only be considered if you have a severely limited budget!” link=”” color=”#960000″ class=”” size=”18″][/pullquote]
This folding bike comes with all of the essentials, 6 different gears to aid in hill climbing, whilst maintaining speed on the flats. The bike is fairly bulky for a folding bike, however it folds down quite quickly – in around 20 seconds.
The tires are surprisingly good for such a cheap model, however we found that they wore down fairly quickly, this is something we have heard from many previous owners of this bike too.
Despite all of this, the brakes are fully functional, however the cabling is made out of a flimsy material that we believe won’t stand the test of time. This Stowabike model is also not fully rust resistant so ensure it is kept out of the wet whenever possible.
One positive note on this bike is that it maintains a relatively minimal aesthetic, you can’t really tell that it is a cheap model when you see it on the road. Due to the chunkiness of this bike, it is not ideal to be carrying around over large distances. The bike weighs a fair amount and it is not the smallest bike when folded away either. The ride itself isn’t too reminiscent of other cheap folding bikes, it feels quite sturdy and although there are vibrations when using the bike, these are quite minor.

To conclude, I would only consider purchasing the Stowabike Folding City Compact Bike (20″) if you have a very low budget for a folding bike. This model is fully functional, it has no immediate issues, however we would definitely recommend looking to spend slightly more and going for a more respected brand.
