The Xootr Swift is a well known bike within the folding bike world, while it belongs to a far lesser known brand than the heavyweights of Dahon, Brompton and Allen Sports. The Xootr Swift is also fairly unique in that it doesn’t aim to be the smallest folding bike around, it’s actually touted as being a full sized folding bike. It has some fairly standard components that are found on many of the more premium models currently available on the market, it’s easy for anybody to put together if they have a spare half an hour and we also found that it was particularly simple to interchange parts with our other bikes too. This will undoubtedly make repairing or indeed upgrading the Xootr Swift a straight forward task that wont consume too much of your precious time.
[pullquote align=”full” cite=”I loved trying out Xootr’s latest folding bike, the Xootr Swift is not only a stunning bike but it performs extremely well on the road too!” link=”” color=”#960000″ class=”” size=”18″][/pullquote]
The wheels on the Xootr Swift are 20 inch, the benefit of these wheels is that it’s always easy to find replacement inner tubes and tires for them. This is because they are the same size for most BMX bicycles and I’m sure you are all well aware of the abundance of these in bicycle shops these days. The Swift comes with a pair of gorgeous Kenda tires to begin with, the tread on them is well suited to roads and being off-road, a real well rounded piece of kit to say the least. The spacing on the forks is set to around 135mm from our measurements and so it would be easy for you to place some larger road or mountain bike based hubs on the bike without too much difficulty.
Another great feature of the Xootr Swift is the fact that there is so much space to hold extra bits of “cargo” when you are out and about. You can mount a rack to the seat post or hang a pair of racks either side of the rear wheel and will therefore be able to take an awful lot of luggage with you too. The Swift is a very lightweight bike, weighing in at 25 pounds – while it’s certainly heavier than some models, for its large size it definitely is relatively manageable and you wont be disappointed in this regard whatsoever. When you plan on taking your Xootr Swift on public transport it’s small enough to simply carry around if needs be.
The Xootr Swift really does shine when it is out on the road, it is a comfortable bike that really does glide down streets and paths with very little difficulty. You can tell that Xootr spent an awful lot of time deciding on all of the different intricacies on the bike, you will very few vibrations when you are on uneven terrain and will be able to fly throughout your local city or countryside.
